R-rated comedies like Superbad had their heyday in the 2000s and the early 2010s, with directors like Judd Apatow, Todd Phillips, and Paul Feig consistently delivering hysterical hits. It’s a shame that the genre has sort of died out recently, purely because filmmakers stopped putting in the effort that they used to and audiences were sick of the same tired gags and clichéd plotlines. There have been some really hilarious and even profound R-rated comedies over the years....

One of the most popular types of horror movies is undoubtedly the slasher. Films released in the 1970s — like Mario Bava’s A Bay of Blood and John Carpenter and Debra Hill’s Halloween — laid the foundation for the subgenre, but experts agree the term “slasher” became popular following the 1980 release of Friday the 13th. The slasher genre enjoyed its heyday between 1978 and 1984. That is not to say slashers ceased to exist after 1984; they remained in favor with audiences throughout the remainder of the decade....

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association membership consists of only 90 or so Southern California-based international journalists yet its annual Golden Globe Awards regularly rival the extravagance of the Oscars, which are run by a much larger 17-branch, nearly 8000 strong voting membership of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Sure, Globe and Oscar differ in density, but their annual awards nominations often closely parallel each other with the Globe nominations rolling out the red carpet for the Hollywood talent that’ll end up raking in the same well-deserved nominations at the Oscars....

And over the years they’ve crept into more and more places, thanks in large part to billions of dollars of acquisitions of already famous brands. Throughout its six seasons, Gossip Girl had its fair share of issues. While it was an enjoyable show, there were definitely a few decisions that had fans confused. From the finale’s big reveal (really?) to some of the relationships (ew), these last minute changes made no sense. Then again, some changes are positive and helped make the show good. It depends on how the fans perceived these changes. Some changes like Chuck’s role in the show, worked out for the better....

HBO’s Watchmen had a big first season, gaining a cult following and bringing the forgotten Watchmen comics back in the spotlight. Taking place directly after the events of the comics where Ozymandius summons a giant squid to kill millions, we see the world recovering and a new age of superheroes. Angela or Sister Knight is at first a mysterious character but soon learns her destiny and her heritage. Every episode was full of suspense and dramatic moments for just about everyone to enjoy whether you’re a comic book fan or not....

The hit MTV supernatural teen drama Teen Wolf may have concluded its run almost two years ago now in September of 2017, but the love for this show will seemingly never die. This surprisingly heartfelt and well written series had pretty much everything anyone would ever ask for in a supernatural horror series about a bunch of high school students, and although no one would have expected it when the show first began it seems safe to say that it will permanently rank up there with the top TV shows in the genre....

Saving Private Ryan is often considered to be one of the greatest war movies of all time, bringing to life the horrors of World War II. Starring Hailee Steinfeld in the main role, The Edge Of Seventeen came out in 2016 and tells the story of a sad and angry teenage girl named Nadine who is dealing with the death of her dad. To make matters worse, her best friend, Krista (Haley Lu Richardson), has fallen for Nadine’s brother. This film is beloved as it offers a fresh take on the classic story of teen angst and it proves that growing up is tough for everybody....

Now that it’s been renewed for a tenth season, there’s no question that Bob’s Burgers is a comedy powerhouse, delivering big laughs (and fun musical numbers) on a regular basis. Like the animated series that came before it (and inspired it), Bob’s Burgers is as much about its supporting cast as it is about the Belcher family. Obviously, the Belchers carry the show, but it’s the colorful cast of supporting characters that really allow the stories to blossom and turn into full-fledged adventures....

With Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer and Chris Rock starring and with the creative direction of those responsible for Shrek and Shark Tale, you’d think the Madagascar franchise would be pretty much airtight. Despite this, there are plenty of plot holes buried within the brilliantly funny series. Some of these are small moments that might not make perfect sense, but then again, the central characters are talking animals, so you can overlook a few physics issues....

A masterpiece of film making which has won over multiple generations of fans, it’s one of the most profitable movie franchises of all time....

Movie characters live on the edge. Some drive fast cars. Some take knockout punches. Some catch fatal bullets. But none of them seem to suffer real consequences of more mundane decisions. Why? Because they’re fictional people who don’t actually experience real-world consequences. They can eat however much or little of whatever it is they want and the worst that’ll happen is they’ll die to the tune of some melodramatic music, giving them the luxury to not have to show up on-screen all over again in the undoubtedly inferior sequel....

Phew! After a rollercoaster couple of weeks where negotiations broke down between Sony and Marvel and it looked as though Spider-Man would be leaving the MCU on a giant cliffhanger, the two studios finally decided to play nice. Sony has allowed Marvel to make another Spidey solo movie with Tom Holland to wrap up his trilogy and follow on from this year’s Far From Home. Going into Spider-Man 3, what could happen is anyone’s guess, especially knowing that it’ll be leading towards Spidey’s eventual exit from the MCU....

The newest film adaptation of this classic novel was released late in 2019. Directed by Greta Gerwig, this movie is up for a handful of Academy Awards, including Best Picture. While this cast and crew is one that’s pretty hard it ignore, this film was inspiring, stunning, and totally wholesome. For movie-lovers, you might be interested to know everything that went into making this beautiful masterpiece. There are a lot of factors that go into making the final product that hits the big screen, and some of them would never be known to movie-goers....

With four main games released between 2007 and 2017, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s action-adventure series Uncharted continues to be a supremely popular title among Playstation users. Marked by increasingly innovative gameplay and graphics with each new entry, the Uncharted series also tends to become more and more outlandish and unrealistic, leaving players often scratching their heads over some inconsistent parts of the game that do not always add up. As such, Uncharted has not been able to avoid a host of accurate internet memes, many of which amuse while also pointing out factual contradictions and inconsistencies within the venerated gaming franchise....

For eleven years, Married…With Children was destination viewing for plenty of fans. Considering how often the show is part of morning TV reruns in syndication, it’s hard to imagine how “my ready for prime time” the crass Bundys were. The show delivered plenty of great episodes over the years, but there’s also a couple of clunkers in there, too. But for a show as popular as Married, most episodes still have their moments and aren’t rated too terribly amongst fans....
